They belong to you now

For Jackie Eley, you could say revenge is sweet. Or it will be once she receives a check for more than $1,300 that a court in Raleigh, N.C., has ordered a finance company to compensate her for the way she was treated. The firm repossessed her pickup truck because she'd missed two payments. At the time - July 2002 - it was carrying a cargo of watermelons, and the company's agents wouldn't let her unload them first or come by later that day to retrieve them. Two days later, however, with the thermo-meter at 98 degrees F ., the company was demanding that she take the melons back because they were rotting and "the smell is polluting [our] storage lot." She refused, and the matter ended up in litigation. The financial penalty is three times what the fruit was worth at market.

Big Jack to let 'er rip one last time at British Open

When Jack Nicklaus tees it up at the British Open golf tournament Thursday, perhaps he should bring along a hankie, because he'll probably shed a tear or two. The legendary Golden Bear became misty-eyed at his final Masters tournament in April. Later, he said he'd make his last stand in tournament play this weekend. In his honor, the Open will be played at historic St. Andrews, Scotland, a year ahead of schedule so he can close out his career on his favorite course. He won the Open there in 1970 and again in 1978 for two of his record 18 major titles. The pros who've won the most majors - British Open, US Open, the Masters, and PGA - and the number in each case:

Jack Nicklaus 18
Walter Hagen 11
Tiger Woods (tie) Ben Hogan (tie) Gary Player 9
Tom Watson 8
Bobby Jones (tie) Arnold Palmer (tie) Gene Sarazen (tie) Sam Snead (tie) Harry Vardon 7
Nick Faldo (tie) Lee Trevino 6
