WHAT: The American Colonist's Library is a site that provides copies of historical literature and primary documents that have influenced American thought, culture, and ideals.

BEST POINTS: You can find a chronological list of more than 2,000 years of literary works whose perspectives American colonists would have been familiar with or supported. You can locate and read pieces by classical playwrights like Aeschylus, or peruse early historians such as Plutarch. Each entry includes a short description of its influence on Colonial America's history.

This free site, run by Rick Gardiner, is part of the History Ring, a group of pages dedicated to providing historical information.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The site has a few "dead" links, but that is to be expected with such a large database. Be prepared to spend some time finding and searching the entries for the 17th and 18th centuries, due to the extensive amount of Colonial material.
