News In Brief

As of Aug. 1, The Christian Science Monitor is raising its annual subscription rate to $189. For current subscribers, the change will become effective at their next billing.

The Monitor has maintained its current price for four years while the newspaper's costs -- including postage, newsprint, shipping, labor, and more -- have risen 16 percent.

During this time, the Monitor has improved its service to readers with a complete redesign, the launch of five weekly feature sections, and the addition of 12 pages of news per week.

In the months ahead, we're beginning the rollout of a new national distribution system to bring morning delivery to many of our readers. As this project progresses, we also expect to adopt later editorial deadlines to provide fresher news.

We will continue our effort to provide more value to readers.
