This is Just to Say

I was grateful for the shimmery pieces of watermelon.

Each cool, watery wedge

of silvery-red

slid down my parched, tired throat -

quenching thirst.

Translucent seeds and fruity fibers

swirled with pinkish-white -

not too sweet like cantaloupe or honeydew....

I swallowed the last icy

bite.
