Look Out Warblers! ESA's on Hold
SUBVERSIVE attacks on the Endangered Species Act are under way. While a Senate committee was discussing Defense appropriations, the bill was suddenly amended to include a moratorium on ESA listings.
That amendment makes as much sense as a broken feather tacked on a fighter plane.
[It] comes from Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R) of Texas, supported by others who should know better.
Hutchison is no fan of endangered species, elected as she was by a state ravaged by that killer of economic development: the golden-cheeked warbler.
Their objective is to prevent the listing of any more species as endangered until the entire act is reviewed.
Sure don't want some darned bird to stop progress in the meantime.
