WORTH NOTING ON TV

* THURSDAY

PrimeTime Live (ABC, 10-11 p.m., EDT): Despite its title, the newsmagazine occasionally considers a segment important enough to include even though it's on tape. This edition offers an interview with Russian President Boris Yeltsin recorded by Diane Sawyer in the Kremlin last Friday.

Yeltsin answers questions on breaking events like the Bosnian crisis. But he also discusses his own political future in the light of rumors about his health prompted by extended absences. Other topics include his feelings about President Clinton and former President George Bush, accused spy Aldrich Ames, and Russia's biological-weapons program. * FRIDAY

...talking with David Frost PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Frost's 1977 talk with former President Richard Nixon was one of the most-watched news interviews in TV history. In Los Angeles, for instance, it captured an amazing 50 percent of the viewing audience. To mark Nixon's death, the program now airs highlights from that historic broadcast, as well as never-seen footage taken from the 28 hours of tape compiled when Frost conducted the interview in San Clemente, Calif.

The program also shows clips of Frost's 1968 interview with Nixon as a presidential candidate, and it offers personal comments by Frost - taped the day of Nixon's funeral - about the experience of speaking at such length with Nixon in 1977.

Investigative Reports (A&E, 9-10 p.m.): Sri Lanka's ``Tigers'' - as the island's Tamil guerrillas are known - are so fanatical they wear cyanide capsules around their necks to ensure that they will never be captured alive. Some people say that the group, which seeks an independent Tamil homeland, was responsible for the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.

Its tactics have led many observers to call the Tigers the most committed guerrilla force in the world. This edition of the documentary series - ``Suicide Killers'' - visits the group's jungle headquarters and training camp and gets the first TV interview with its leader, Velupillai Prabkaharan.
