The time-honored lunch hour is the latest casualty on corporate America's growing list of cutbacks, according to a survey The Roper Organization conducted for Stouffer Foods Corporation in Solon, Ohio.

The survey, based on the responses of 101 executive secretaries in Fortune 500 companies, reveals that as many as 61 percent bring their lunch from home regularly and 19 percent brown-bag it more often this year than last.

In addition to carrying their lunch more frequently, 82 percent of the executive secretaries say they do not usually leave their place of business to eat lunch: 49 percent eat at their desks or in their office, and 33 percent eat in a company cafeteria or conference room.
