Elsewhere, guerrillas freed two other groups of peacekeepers as the rebel group kept up the cat-and-mouse game that is obstructing UN efforts to lead the war-torn nation to peace.
A Cambodian military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said UN officials in Phnom Penh were trying to negotiate a release.
The Khmer Rouge have refused to abide by a peace accord they signed last year to end 13 years of war with the Vietnamese-installed government.
Cambodian national reconciliation leader Prince Norodom Sihanouk said Jan. 19 that an oil embargo imposed by the UN Security Council to force the Khmer Rouge back into the peace process was not working.
