EAST GERMAN SPD LEADER RESIGNS
EAST BERLIN — East German Social Democratic Party leader Ibrahim Boehme resigned yesterday, amid a dispute over his alleged role as a security police informer. Party spokesman Karl-August Kamilli told a news conference that Mr. Boehme was giving up all his party posts.
Boehme, who denies links with the former Stasi security police, stepped aside a week ago to clear his name. After he had viewed his police files last Friday he said he would resume the party leadership yesterday.
