MOST MINERS RETURN TO COAL FIELDS

Thousands of union coal miners returned to work over the weekend, but some wildcat strikers in West Virginia and western Kentucky continued their protest. United Mine Workers president Richard Trumka, scheduled to meet Tuesday with a federal judge in Virginia, called for an end to unauthorized pickets and to a month-long wildcat strike against the Pittston Coal Group Inc.
