Airplane mechanic Joe Lippo reaches through the sunroof of a car traveling at about 90 m.p.h. to free the landing gear on pilot Scott Gordon's airplane Tuesday morning after the gear had stuck approaching a St. Augustine, Fla., airport. The attempt of Mr. Lippo and the driver of the car, Jim Moser, a stunt pilot with 15 years' experience, was successful, and the plane landed safely. ``It didn't want to come at first,'' said Mr. Lippo in a telephone interview with the Associated Press. ``Then I was able to put my whole weight on it and it came down.'' Pilot Gordon is president of a firm that specializes in aerial stunts.
