UN report on El Salvador notes gain but gap on rights

A United Nations report said Monday the human rights situation in El Salvador has improved in recent months but there is still a gap between the government's aims and its ability to achieve results.

The report also said the capacity of the Salvadorean judicial system to investigate rights violations ''continues to be patently inadequate.''
