Key Druze officer in Lebanon is killed in helicopter crash
A helicopter crashed on a mountain ridge north of Beirut Thursday, killing Maj. Gen. Nadim Hakim, the chief of staff and the highest-ranking Druze officer in the Lebanese Army. Hakim would have played a key role in putting into place a security plan to extend government authority to the Druze-controlled central mountains of Lebanon.
