From so much flatness, so much unconcealed terrain, and so much level, honest fact I came to Eastern shores. The endless field was gone, the endless open sky, untracked, was never seen.
The curve, the hill, the hidden view revealed for just the twinkling of a restless eye; a waterfall, a wall around a field and thick-set foliage crowding out the sky with lushest green.
Too much of secrecy, too much respect for the traditions of a time gone by! I yearned for flat-out honest fields, the trek from town to town beneath that open sky, the land serene.
