Lambsdorff to be tried on corruption charges

Count Otto Lambsdorff, who resigned as economics minister last week, will be tried on charges of corruption, the Bonn district court said Monday. Facing trial with Lambsdorff are Hans Friderichs, chief executive of the country's second-largest bank, the Dresdner, and Eberhard von Brauchitsch, a former manager of the Flick industrial group. All three have denied the allegations against them.

The Flick group is at the center of a major bribery scandal involving several key politicians and public figures.
