London — British press agrees to stop stalking the royal family
British newspapers, agreeing to a royal request for privacy, withdrew their reporters and photographers from Queen Elezabeth's vacation estate in eastern England.
The Queen's press secretary had complained that the news media were harassing the royal family, which is spending a New Year's vacation at Sandringham in Norfolk.
About 20 reporters and photographers, equipped with telephoto cameras and two-way radios, have staked out the mansion since the royal family arrived Dec. 28.
