Chilean protesters hold large, peaceful rally

An estimated 5,000 to 10,000 Chileans gathered peacefully outside the presidential palace Wednesday night in what was perhaps the largest protest ever against 10 years of military rule. The rally was originally staged to support miners who were fired when they tried to go on strike in May. After the demonstration, several hundred protesters marched on the palace. Police opened fire on the crowd, injuring several people.
