USSR insists on counting British, French missiles

Soviet President Yuri Andropov said the Soviet Union insists on counting French and British missiles in the Geneva talks on limiting medium-range nuclear arms.

Mr. Andropov's comments came in response to West German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher's statement that Bonn hopes and expects the Soviets to drop their demand for counting all NATO missiles in reaching a nuclear balance. Mr. Genscher was in Washington, reporting on last week's meeting of Mr. Andropov and West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
