Unrest in Sudan leads to decentralizing plan
Khartoum, Sudan — Sudan's president has decided to divide the southern part of his country into three regions. The official Sudan News Agency said President Jaafar Nimeiri made the decision as part of his decentralization policies and to soothe disputes between bitter rivals in the southern region. Earlier this month, the Army had to move in to crush a military rebellion in the south. Sudan's information minister disclosed Monday that Israeli-made weapons were seized in that mutiny.
