Soviets say Sakharov can't leave country
Moscow — The Soviet Union said that dissident Andrei Sakharov would not be allowed to leave the country. Earlier, his wife said he would be willing to leave. After weeks of speculation that the Nobel Peace Prize-winner might be granted an exit visa, the official news agency Tass said Dr. Sakharov would be barred from traveling abroad because he possessed state secrets. He had developed the Soviet H-bomb.
