Kentucky senator plans to skip governor's race

Sen. Wendell H. Ford (D) of Kentucky announced he will not run again for governor of Kentucky, a post he held from 1971 to '74, Monitor contributor Richard L. Walker reports.

Mr. Ford said his heart told him to run for governor in 1983, but his head told him to stay in the Senate.
