New leg for space shuttle--home for new voyage

A Boeing 747 jet took off at sunrise Tuesday carrying the space shuttle Columbia piggyback on its return trip to Cape Canaveral, Fla.

The ferry plane was scheduled to land at Barksdale Air Force Base in northern Louisiana for refueling, then fly on to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Workers at Cape Canaveral will begin readying the shuttle for its fourth voyage into space, scheduled to begin June 27.
