Anniversary
Let us pay our respects to time But nothing more. For all our clocks and watches, Ingenious contrivances, Are only toys to amuse the collectors Who are themselves collected By the time they thought to keep. We say we love As though it were a gift Conferred on one another. More truly are we carried By that element we name But cannot wholly fathom. Which shall we celebrate? Time or love? No matter. The incomparable distinction that I share In the mystery of each with you.
