Inside Report (1)
Don't write off Jerry Brown -- a wizard at political comebacks -- just yet because of the Medfly political fallout. Even as hostile elements in the news media, and potential opponents for the Senate seat from California he is eyeing, continue their sniping -- and aerial spraying of the fly-infested area continues -- Brown is moving to broaden the focus of debate. The feisty governor, who opposes aerial spraying, will use the situation to talk about toxic chemicals and the environment -- an issue on which he has long spoken out.
"In the next year, I will escalate my campaign to reduce the use of toxic chemicals," says Brown. "This will all come down to a heightened awareness of the use of chemicals in society."m
