India launches its 2nd satellite

India successfully launched its second earth satellite from an island in the Bay of Bengal. The 83-pound satellite, named Rohini, was carried by a 17-ton, four-stage, solid-fuel rocket. India put its first satellite into earth orbit last July. A previous attempt in August 1979 failed when the r ocket fell to earth minutes after the launch.
