For US investors, 'buying Japanese' has no stigma

Interest rates climbed and the stock market fell last week. The prime interest rate --the rate banks charge their best corporate customers -- was raised to 18 percent from 17 1/2 percent as short-term rates spurted. For the week, the Do w Jones industrial average dropped 24.76 points, closing at 995.59. Volume remained fairly heavy all week.
