Poland's new free trade unions are being quietly drawn closer to the worldwide labor movement. International labor officials in Brussels are confident that an understanding will soon be reached on cooperation with Polish unions. "We are in a stage of establishing the closest possible relations," says an official of the 53 million-member International Confederation of Free TRade Unions.

ICFTU is cautious about its talk with Polish labor. They worry about a Communist government crackdown. But a number of individual unions in Europe are believed to have contributed financially to the "solidarity fund" established by Polish union leaders.m
