The wind shakes them to shining, Rustles tones of green like taffeta Across the town; as though ladies never seen In brazen sun were walking evening ground, Their great skirts water-fresh, flowing wide, Sweeping the sultry city in a tide All lettuce-crisp and leaving in their wake Small lanes of coolness like memories of rain.
