I know why they laugh and dance and call themselves the crowdpleasers, why they skitter across the stage singing, under the colored, hot and lonely lights. They laugh because the songs say: "send in the clowns" and "you light up my life" and "life's been good to me." They dance because the spirit of the rhythm and delight of the music moves them twirling and swaying, floating and flying. They are the crowdpleasers because I and you and everyone sit smiling in the auditorium, listening. They are one great celebration, they are the singing.
