Spain's Salvador embassy is seized by leftists

The Spanish Foreign Ministry reported Tuesday night that its embassy in El Salvador was in the hands of leftists, who were holding the ambassador and five other persons hostage. No details were immediately available.

Peasants seized the Spanish Embassy in neighboring Guatemala last Thursday and 39 people were killed in a fire that broke out after Guatemalan security forces stormed the building.
