SATURDAY

MAD TV (FOX, 11 p.m.-12 midnight): Alfred E. Neuman has a new hangout in FOX's takeoff of "Saturday Night Live" - this time a taped version. This premiere, with guest Kato Kaelin, features "Gump Fiction," a film parody; "MTV Week With Poison," about a "lucky" contestant winner's five days with the hard-rocking band; and "Star Trek: Deep Stain Nine," the spaceship's laundry-room adventures.

SUNDAY

Heroes Hispanos (The History Channel, 9 p.m.-12 midnight): US history could be drastically different if it hadn't been for fighters like Gen. Bernardo de Galvez. The Spanish governor of the Louisiana Territory led a key victory at Pensacola Bay for the American Colonies during the Revolution. This detailed documentary traces Hispanic contributions in earlier wars and interviews many Hispanic veterans from 20th-century conflicts - taking note of the disproportionate number of Hispanic soldiers who died in Vietnam.

MONDAY

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (PBS, broadcast time varies): "What do you do with the mad that you feel?" Young viewers can find answers to Mister Rogers's question each day this week - as part of the "Act Against Violence" campaign of the Public Television Outreach Alliance. Mister Rogers explores constructive activities such as art, sports, and dance. Some special neighbors are also part of the show: artist Red Grooms and the Off Broadway performers Stomp - who create rhythmic sounds with their bodies and materials such as brooms, pails, and pipes.

Chicago on Stage (PBS, 10-11 p.m. EDT): They all got their start in Chicago: John Cusack, Dennis Franz, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Malkovich, David Mamet, Joe Mantegna, Laurie Metcalf, Bill Murray, David Schwimmer, and Gary Sinise. This program looks at the history and influence of Chicago theater, whose actors are known for their straightforward, natural performances.
