Ranking Afghans, Soviets reported killed by rebels
An Afghan Army general and about 11 Afghan or Soviet officials were killed last week when guerrillas shot down their helicopter south of Kabul, Western diplomats said here Tuesday.
Maj. Gen. Muhammad Abdel Azim was traveling south Nov. 15 in a Soviet built MI-8 escorted by four helicopter gunships when it was attacked, the diplomats said, quoting their embassies in Kabul.
