Stock of Atari gamemaker plunges on earnings news

Warner Communications Inc. shares plunged Thursday on news that growth of earnings in its Atari unit would be much smaller than expected. In the wake of that report, Atari president Perry Odak was reported to have been ''relieved of all his duties.''
Mr. Odak's departure is one of a series of executive changes at Atari, which has been battling to keep its lead in home video games and arcade games this year. (Related story on the boom in home video games, Page 7.)
