Salma Hayek: Was her Ford GT involved in brother's crash?

Salma Hayek's brother, Sami Hayek, may have been driving her Ford GT in the crash which killed his passenger, Grammy-winning art director Ian Cuttler Sala. Salma Hayek's brother was hospitalized with broken ribs. 

Los Angeles police say speed may be a factor in a deadly crash involving Salma Hayek's brother.

Lt. Andrew Neiman tells the Los Angeles Times that 40-year-old Sami Hayek may have been going too fast on a curvy stretch of Sunset Boulevard when he lost control of a high-powered Ford GT Sunday afternoon.

Neiman says the muscle car fishtailed, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck.

The crash broke Hayek's ribs and killed his passenger, photographer and Grammy-winning art director Ian Cuttler Sala.

CBS Channel 2 News in Los Angeles reports that the 2006 Ford GT was the same car that has been seen in Selma Hayek's possession and is registered to a holding company in Montana. If she owns the car, that raises questions about whether Selma Hayek may share any liabilities in this incident.

Selma Hayek is a Mexican-American actress and director.

The pickup driver involved in the car accident suffered a broken foot.

Officer Neiman says no drugs or alcohol were involved.

The actress's younger brother is a furniture designer. Efforts to reach him and Salma Hayek were unsuccessful.

According to his website, the 43-year-old Cuttler won a Grammy for his design of the "Johnny Cash: The Legend" music box set. His personal website notes that he worked for Sony Music for nine years, and created visual campaigns for stars like Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Marc Anthony, and Billy Joel. After leaving the company, he became a full-time photographer, reports US Magazine.
