Former President George W. Bush has spent much of his post-White House years cultivating his creative side. His 2010 memoir sold three million copies and this past April he landed his first gallery exhibition of paintings (albeit at his own presidential library). Most recently, “Dubya” has turned his creative muse onto his father, former-President George H.W. Bush.

The junior Mr. Bush has written a biography of his namesake and presidential predecessor, which will hit US and Canadian bookshelves on Nov. 11, 2014, according to a release issued Wednesday by Crown Publishers.

“Countless books have been written about [American presidents]. But never before has a president told the story of his father, another president, through his own eyes and in his own words,” the release states.

The Bushes are the first father and son to both serve as US president since John Adams and John Quincy Adams in 1797 and 1825.

In the book, Bush chronicles his father’s political life, from his service in the Pacific during World War II to his work as a Texas oilman, his service as a Texas representative of Congress, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and president of the United States, according to the release.

However, this won’t be your typical presidential biography. Bush’s unique perspective on his subject’s personal and family life will undoubtedly offer a more intimate portrait than can be typically found in political tomes.

“In this heartfelt, intimate, and illuminating portrait of his father, George W. Bush brings to vivid life his unique perspective of the personal qualities and principles that have animated George H.W. Bush’s extraordinary life of service to country and family,” Maya Mavjee, president and publisher of The Crown Publishing Group said in a statement.

In addition to leading the free world for four years, H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara have, have had six children, George, Robin (who died as a child), John (better known as Jeb), Neil, Marvin, and Dorothy.

A majority of Americans no longer trust the Supreme Court. Can it rebuild?

“George H.W. Bush is a great servant, statesman, and father,” former President George W. Bush said in a statement Wednesday. “I loved writing the story of his life, and I hope others enjoy reading it.”

Bush’s previous book, “Decision Points,” a personal and political memoir published in November 2010, is the single best selling presidential memoir of all time, according Crown Publishers.

Since leaving office in January 2009, Bush has largely kept himself out of the spotlight, opting to spend time at home with his wife, Laura, and various pets. On the rare occasions when he has stepped into the limelight, he has abstained from commenting much on the politics, saying that he’s retired.
