A trailer has been released for the new version of the comic book story “The Fantastic Four.”

“Fantastic” tells the story of a quartet who accidentally gain superpowers after traveling to space. Mr. Fantastic, also known as Reed Richards, gains an elastic body, while Sue Storm becomes the Invisible Woman, with the power to create force fields. Sue's brother Johnny Storm becomes the Human Torch, able to fly and create fire, and their friend Ben Grimm becomes the Thing, with impenetrable, orange skin and huge amounts of strength.

In this iteration, Reed Richards will be portrayed by “The Spectacular Now” actor Miles Teller, and Kate Mara of “House of Cards” takes on the role of Sue Storm. Michael B. Jordan of “Fruitvale Station” (who also previously starred in the 2012 superpowers film “Chronicle”) plays the Human Torch, while Jamie Bell of the AMC TV series “Turn” is playing the Thing.

The characters previously came to movie theaters in a 2005 adaptation that starred actors Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, Chris Evans (who now portrays superhero Captain America) as the Human Torch, and Michael Chiklis as the Thing. This adaptation was followed by a 2007 film “Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

The 2005 movie featured actor Julian McMahon as Victor von Doom, whom comic book fans know as Dr. Doom. According to actor Toby Kebbell, who is reportedly taking on the role of the villain, Dr. Doom will be part of the new “Fantastic” film as well. “He's Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story,” Kebbell, who previously starred in such films as “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” told the website Collider. “And I'm sure I'll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours – I'm a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I'm ‘Doom.’”

The new version of “Fantastic” is scheduled to be released on Aug. 7.
