The NBC reality singing competition “The Voice” has crowned another winner.

Vocalist Craig Wayne Boyd was named the newest champion on the show in a finale that aired on Dec. 16. Boyd triumphed during what was the show’s seventh season.

Boyd was a member of the team coached by singer Blake Shelton, giving Shelton another victory as coach. Shelton’s singers won during the competition’s second, third, and fourth seasons. Since then, fellow coaches Adam Levine of the band Maroon 5 and singer Usher had won as coaches.

This season, the coaches were Shelton, Levine, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, and singer Pharrell Williams. Stefani will be replaced by singer Christina Aguilera for the show’s next season.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Shelton was far from sure about Boyd’s victory before the announcement – Boyd was facing off against three competitors on Levine's team.

“I don’t know how much confidence I have,” Shelton said. “I feel like Craig did everything he could possibly do to win this thing. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

During a press conference, Boyd said that money problems almost made him pursue another path.

“I remember a little more than a year ago sitting in a pickup outside of a club after I had played to basically no one and talking to my drummer and saying, 'Listen, I may have to quit because it's not paying my bills and I'm losing my house,'” Boyd said, according to USA Today. “I lost my pickup. I didn't know what I was going to do. And him telling me, 'Dude, you can't do that.' And then randomly the opportunity [came] up to go audition a few months out for The Voice and I was like, 'You know what? You ought to go do that.’”
