COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.
A storm has brought torrential downpours and reports of flash flooding to central Colorado.
The National Weather Service says trained spotters have reported about 2.8 inches of rain in Teller and El Paso counties, which are under a flood warning until dawn Friday.
U.S. 24 between Cave of the Winds and Cascade was closed due to a flash flood warning. The stretch is below an area burned by the Waldo Canyon Fire last year.
KVOR-AM in Colorado Springs reports blinding rain led to several traffic accidents and delays, high water in intersections and some road closures. Colorado Springs firefighters were helping drivers who said their vehicles were stuck in flood water.
KXRM-TV reported that several areas in the north part of Colorado Springs experienced some extreme street flooding, and firefighters worked to rescue people from some of those roadways. Parts of Voyager Road were closed.
Meanwhile hail in Ken Caryl left yards in the town southwest of Denver looking like it had just snowed.
