Five reasons why Palm Springs is the best

Great golf, music, sun, and more await vacationers to Palm Springs.

I recently returned from Palm Springs--once the vacation destination of the Rat Pack and other famous names from 1950s Hollywood.  With Coachella and Stagecoach fast approaching, I thought I'd give you five reasons why Palm Springs is the best!

1.  The Airport

It's completely outdoors--the weather in Palm Springs during most of the year is extremely pleasant (save the summer months).  If you're traveling through with children, there's even an outdoor playground for them to play on!  The airport is small, which makes it extremely easy to get in and out of when passing through!

2.  The History

As mentioned, the history of the Valley is studded with stories from the golden years of Hollywood.  Known as "Hollywood's Playground," take a heritage tour to check out all the mid-century modern architecture that dots the desert.

In Kentucky, the oldest Black independent library is still making history

3.  The Weather

It rarely rains here (it is the desert, after all), and the constant dose of Vitamin D should keep you happy!  Summer is hot, but many resorts, like the La Quinta Resort, make it easy with their sprawling pools and grounds.

4.  The Food

Being a vacation destination, there are plenty of high-end restaurants in the Valley.  In La Quinta, there's Arnold Palmer's Restaurant, which features great steakhouse food, an outdoor patio, putting green, and a trophy case featuring Arnie's best trophies.  It's a sight to see for any golf fan.

5.  The Events

With the BNP Paribas Open, multiple golf tournaments, the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and two weekends of Coachella and one of Stagecoach, there's never a dull moment.
