Amazon's bestselling titles of 2013 include Dan Brown, Khaled Hosseini
Amazon's 2013 list of bestselling adult titles includes Brown's 'Inferno' and Hosseini's 'And the Mountains Echoed,' while Veronica Roth's 'Allegiant' tops the children's bestseller list.
'Inferno' by Dan Brown was Amazon's top-selling title of the year, followed by 'And the Mountains Echoed' by Khaled Hosseini.
“The Da Vinci Code” author Dan Brown’s newest novel “Inferno” is Amazon’s bestselling adult book of 2013.
On Amazon’s list of the bestselling titles for the past year, “And the Mountains Echoed” by “The Kite Runner” writer Khaled Hosseini is in second place behind “Inferno.” J.K. Rowling’s mystery written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, titled “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” stands at number three while the novel “The Husband’s Secret” by Liane Moriarty comes in at fourth.
The top nonfiction title on the list is Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In,” which places fifth on the list. “The Hit” by David Baldacci comes in sixth, with John Grisham’s “Sycamore Row” in seventh place. “Entwined With You” by Sylvia Day ranks eighth, “Never Go Back” by Lee Child ninth, and “The Storyteller” by Jodi Picoult places tenth.
Amazon also released its top-selling children’s titles for the year, a category which includes young adult fiction. “Allegiant” by Veronica Roth, the conclusion to her “Divergent” trilogy, places first on that list, followed by the newest installment in Rick Riordan’s mythology books, “The House of Hades.” Jeff Kinney’s book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck,” the newest book in his “Diary” series, places third, followed by “Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims” by Rush Limbaugh and “Never Too Far” by Abbi Glines. “Never” is the second in Glines’ young adult series that centers on a romance between two stepsiblings, a teenage girl who works at a country club and a boy who is the child of a rock star. Glines is also the author of other young adult romance series. Two other titles in the same series by Glines, “Forever Too Far” and “Twisted Perfection,” stand at eighth and ninth respectively on the children’s bestselling list.
Last year, the third book in E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy, “Fifty Shades Freed,” was the number one seller for 2012. (By contrast, Day’s “Entwined with You” is the only erotic fiction book to make the top 10 for this year.) “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn came in at number two, followed by “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Day’s “Bared to You.” The only nonfiction title in the top five on the 2012 list was “No Easy Day” by Mark Owen.
Day, Grisham, and Baldacci are the only two authors to place in the top 10 two years in a row, with Grisham’s “The Racketeer” coming in at number eight last year and Baldacci’s “The Innocent” placing at number 10.
