Newly released surveillance video shows a man taking a toddler hostage at a Walmart in suburban Oklahoma City, two weeks ago. The hostage-taker was shot and killed by law enforcement.

Midwest City Police Assistant Chief Sid Porter says the child wasn't harmed in the incident on June 18. Police say Sammie Lamont Wallace took the 2-year-old girl out of her mother's shopping cart and held a knife to the child. Porter says the store was evacuated within minutes and police began negotiating with Wallace.

Porter says an officer opened fire after Wallace began "counting down" on the girl's life.

The shot killed Wallace and no one else was hurt. Porter says Wallace, who was 37, apparently had no connection to the toddler or her mother.
