Home prices rise in June

Nationally, home prices increased 0.65 percent in June and 7.48 percent above the level seen in June 2012. 

This chart shows changes in the FHFA National Monthly House Price Index over the past decade. After four years of declines following the housing market crash, prices began to pick back up at the beginning of 2011.

Today, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) released the latest results of their monthly house price index (HPI) showing that in June, nationally, home prices increased 0.65% from May and rose 7.48% above the level seen in June 2012.

The FHFA monthly HPI are formulated from home purchase information collected from mortgages that have been sold to or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
