Nissan recalls 2014 Nissan Rogue for steering issue

Nissan is recalling some 2014 Nissan Rogue crossovers because of a steering problem. An incorrect bolt was installed on the steering column, which could compromise steering.

Nissan is recalling certain 2014 Nissan Rogue crossovers due to a problem with the steering column. On some vehicles during the manufacturing process, the incorrect bolt was installed on the upper portion of the steering column.

The bolt in question tightens the clamp on the steering shaft, which connects to the steering wheel. The wrong bolt has a flange instead of a lock washer and therefore will not tighten the steering column clamp securely. Should it come loose, steering could be compromised.

The fix

Dealers will inspect to see if the vehicle has the correct bolt, and if not, replace it with the correct one and torque it properly. This service will be performed at no charge to owners for parts or labor.

Nissan is managing this recall via VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). The best way to determine if a particular vehicle is involved in this action is to call local dealers with the vehicle's VIN. Dealers will search the Nissan database to see if the vehicle is included in this recall. The repair takes approximately 15 minutes to perform.
