Will “The Theory of Everything” actor Eddie Redmayne star as protagonist Newt Scamander in the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”?

According to Variety, Warner Bros. has offered the role to the actor, who is the most recent to win the Best Actor Oscar for his work in “Everything.” The story of “Fantastic Beasts” is built on a the mention of a textbook assigned to Harry and his friends in the “Harry Potter” books. Scamander is the author of the book, which covers the topic of magical beasts.

The screenplay is being written by “Potter” writer J.K. Rowling.

According to CBS, David Yates, who directed multiple installments of the “Potter” film series, is on board to direct “Fantastic” as well.

In addition to his role in “Theory,” Redmayne has starred in such films as “Les Miserables” and “My Week with Marilyn,” in which "Potter" actress Emma Watson co-starred.
