Kelly Link’s new short story collection “Get In Trouble” is receiving many positive reviews.

The book by Link, the author of works such as “Pretty Monsters,” was released earlier this month and was selected as one of the best books of the month by Amazon. “She's one of the great under-sung writers,” Amazon editorial director Sara Nelson said of Link.

Meanwhile, NPR book critic Meg Wolitzer found the book to have “astonishing freedom…. [Link has] confidence and storytelling chops…. Link perfectly mimics the cadences of teenagers talking to one another.” Los Angeles Times reviewer David L. Ulin called the book "unsettling and vivid.... [I]t resonates with depth and maturity."

In Kentucky, the oldest Black independent library is still making history

And Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Library Journal all agreed with the praise, with both publications giving the story collection starred reviews. PW called the book “imaginative…. Link’s characters … seek trouble out – to spectacular effect.” Meanwhile, Kirkus Reviews found the book to be “as haunting as anything the Grimm brothers could have come up with… .Exquisite [and] cruelly wise” and Library Journal writer Reba Leiding of Virginia’s James Madison University Library called the stories “imaginatively bizarre.”
