'Sherlock' mini-episode will air via BBC service and online on Dec. 25

The mini-episode of 'Sherlock,' titled 'Many Happy Returns,' will be available online and via the BBC Red Button service in the UK.

Are you a UK fan who can’t wait for the debut of the third season of the BBC series “Sherlock”?

Then you’re getting one more Christmas present – according to BBC One, a mini-episode of the show titled “Many Happy Returns” will be available online and via the BBC's Red Button service on Dec. 25, ahead of the show’s Jan. 1 debut in the UK. (The show’s airing its third season premiere in the US on Jan. 19.) 

The BBC Red Button service is available through digital cable in the UK and Ireland.

According to the website Hypable, the synopsis for “Returns” reads, “Sherlock has been gone for 2 years. But someone isn’t quite convinced that he’s dead....”

No word on whether the mini-episode will air on PBS in the US.
