I'm reading The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig. A 1900 one-room Montana school house may be the hinge point on which this delightful novel turns but the arrival of Haley’s Comet crowns this story of growing up, of brotherly fidelity, and the cruel realization of how the world works. If you were lucky enough to take Latin years ago, you’ll enjoy it even more.
