It is not necessary to be a New Englander to savor Book of Ages: The Life and Opinions of Jane Franklin by Jill Lepore but it helps. And to have lived in or near Boston is even more of an advantage. I learned so much more about Benjamin Franklin than I ever knew but the highlight was learning of his tender relationship with his sister, Jane.
