Richard Rubin's The Last of the Doughboys (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2013) is a touching tribute and unique glimpse into the horror and legacy of the men who fought and (somehow) returned from World War I. An added bonus is Rubin's wonderful citation list, leading me to two other old, but wonderful reads:  "Company K" (William March 1933)  and "Over the Top" (Authur Guy Empey 1917).
