From peaks to waves, Vancouver has it all

Because of its quality of life, Vancouver, B.C., is often perceived as one of the best cities in the world. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that in a survey of Canadians, conducted by the Angus Reid polling company, Vancouver is ranked as Canada's best city. The cost of living may be high, but the climate is mild, the population appealingly diverse, the downtown clean and bustling, and the scenery spectacular, with mountain backdrops and views of English Bay. In 2010, many millions of Olympic viewers will discover Vancouver when it hosts the Winter Games. Canadian cities ranked the best nationally in the survey's various categories:

• Vancouver
Best city
Best city to vacation in

• Toronto
Best city to do business in
Best city for sport, recreation
Best city for arts, culture

• Montreal
Best city for nightlife
Best city for eating out
Best city for shopping

• Calgary
Best city to find a job in
